Lesson objectives Learners will be able to:
  • Learn modal verbs and all learners do grammar games, using notebooks
  • Read the dialogue ,complete the gaps
  • listen and read for gist, read for specific information and make up the dialogue
Assessment  criteriaLearners have met 8.2.2.1 objective if they can complete the gaps. 
Learners have met 8.3.3.1 objective if they can give an opinion and make up a dialogue.

Brainstorming                                    What these numbers mean?                                  Learners ask some questions, teacher answers   
  Pre- listening   ,,Think and complete the dialogue  ,,Allow SS time to read the dialogue complete the gaps on the notebook and role play.
Learners work in pairs and put the sentences in order. Check answers with the whole class. 
 (I, W) Listening 
Learners listen the recording for the first time and match speakers to the places they are travelling to. Ask learners to compare their answers with each other. 
Before learners listen to the recording again to complete the gaps, look through the sentences again and ask learners to underline the key words in each sentence and identify the part of speech which is required in each gap.
Learners listen to the recording twice and complete the gaps. 
Check answers with the entire class, write answers on the board, ensure that learners spelt the words correctly. 
 (P, G, W) Post-listening 
Learners work in pairs and describe the last time they took a flight. If learners didn’t travel recently, they can describe an imaginary trip or describe someone from a movie or a cartoon who took a flight. One learner asks questions and takes notes of what have been said, second learner responds. 
Teacher walks around the class, listens to the learners’ responses and if necessary provides feedback and delayed correction at the end of the lesson.

Differentiation by supportTeacher can formatively assess learners’ listening.  Make sure cords are not tripping hazard. 
Switch off the active board if you do not use it.
If learners are tired, do physical exercise with them. 
Open the window to refresh the air in the classroom during the break.
